Claims by the Winnie the Pooh licensee Stephen Slesinger against Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) in a copyright infringement cast have been dismissed by a U.S. judge. This ruling finally closes a legal battle that has been going on since 1991 over possible billions of dollars in royalties. A claim against Disney is still pending before U.S. patent regulators however. Slesinger obtained these rights from author A.A. Milne in 1930 and transferred them to Disney in 1961 for a regular royalty.
