Duane “Dog” Chapman, from the hit show “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” has become the hunted. Audrey Emery filed a lawsuit against the bounty hunter alleging that Chapman and members of his crew threw her down a flight of stairs while trying to apprehend her boyfriend.
Emery is seeking unspecified damages for the alleged attack which she claims resulted in her breaking her back.
The incident occurred at a Honolulu apartment complex on Jan. 26, 2005 and was being filmed for the A&E television show.
Richard Turbin, the attorney representing Emery, stated “They're filming this TV segment and she is upset because you have these thugs breaking into her apartment and she doesn't want them in there, so they decide the convenient thing is to throw her down the stairs.”
Chapman, 53, doesn’t seem too concerned about the lawsuit. In a released statement “Dog” said that he, along with his crew, have become a "target of frivolous lawsuits and publicity seeking attorneys."
“Dog” rose to instant fame after apprehending Andrew Luster in June 2003. Luster had fled the U.S. and was living in Puerto Vallarta when Chapman caught up to and brought the fugitive back to American soil. Luster, the heir to the Max Factor empire, was convicted of rape and is now serving his sentence.
While he did nab a fugitive, Chapman is in hot water for breaking a Mexican law in the apprehension. According to the laws that govern Mexico “deprivation of liberty” is against the law. Chapman is currently free on $300,000 bond while awaiting a Mexican judge’s ruling on his extradition.
