A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit Peru Wednesday but the tremblor
was not felt. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was centered in
Southeastern Peru near Bolivia’s capital of La Paz. The epicenter was about 155
miles below the earth’s surface.
The earthquake in Peru is the third one to hit in the
past 24 hours. Earlier today, a 7.9 quake hit Indonesia, killing at least 111
and leaving hundreds buried in rubble. Yesterday, an 8.0 earthquake shook the
Samoan Islands and generated a tsunami that killed at least 100 people in Samoa,
American Samoa and Tonga.
