Rihanna has finally opened up about why she decided to rekindle her romance with Chris Brown after he beat her. Explaining that she could no longer deny she still had feelings for Brown, who was charged with felony assault in the 2009 incident, Rihanna tells the Rolling Stone she ultimately decided to “live her truth” instead of worrying about the public’s opinion.
"I decided it was more important for me to be happy and I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that," she says.
"After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash,” the 24-year-old tells the magazine. “I can handle it."
"When you add up the pieces from the outside, it's not the cutest puzzle in the world. ... But it's different now. We don't have those types of arguments anymore," Rihanna explains. "We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."
"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," she adds.
Brown, 23, is still on probation in the case. He is currently under investigation for assaulting R&B singer Frank Ocean in a West Hollywood parking lot over the weekend. The two were apparently fighting over a parking space at West Lake Recording Studios.
"Chris Brown and the victim were involved in an altercation over a parking space. The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
Ocean tweeted about the incident. “Got jumped by chris and a couple guys. Lol,” he wrote. “Cut my finger now I can’t play w two hands at the grammys.”
