David Beckham Signs With Paris Saint Germain

David Beckham is now a Paris Saint-Germain player. After considering about a dozen offers from soccer teams around the world, the former Los Angeles Galaxy star signed a five month contract with Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday. The contract will expire on June 30.

Beckham, 37, said he was “very honored” to be joining the French team. "I chose Paris because I can see what the club are trying to do. I can see the players they are trying to bring in. It's an exciting city; it always has been. But now they have a club that will have a lot of success for the next 10, 15, 20 years. I'm not saying I will be playing then, but for now, to be a part of something that is growing is exciting,” he said.

"I don't expect to come into this team and play in every single game. I don't expect to start. I have to work for that," said Beckham.

As for his rumored $5 million paycheck, Beckham revealed that he will donate it all to a local children’s charity.

"That's one of the things we're very excited about and proud to be able to do. It's something...I'm not sure has been done before but something I'm very passionate about -- children and the charity side of things -- and so is the club, so we came together,” he explained.

Beckham also confirmed that his wife Victoria Beckham will remain in London with their four children because “the children are in school there.”

Beckham first played for Manchester United from 1993 to 2003. He then played for Real Madrid for four years and Los Angeles Galaxy for five.
