Kara DioGuardi is officially a mom! The former American Idol judge welcomed her first child with husband Mike McCuddy on Thursday in Los Angeles. The couple’s gestational surrogate delivered Greyson James Carroll McCuddy at 1:01 p.m. Greyson weighed in at 8 lbs., 10 oz.
DioGuardi, 42, revealed her baby news last month, telling People magazine she was “eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth” of her son. The songwriter said they made the decision to “try with a surrogate” after years of fertility problems.
“I asked someone we knew, a friend. And on the first try, it worked,” she revealed. “We’re praying for our surrogate, that she gets through this and that it’s as easy on her as it can possibly be, because she’s been a gem throughout the whole process. I’ve got two people on my mind: her and the baby. She’s given us this incredible gift.”
DioGuardi and McCuddy wed in 2009.
