Nike has denied reports that they have a deal with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, saying they have agreed to supply the controversial athlete with products but do not have a “contractual relationship.”
On Wednesday the agency that represents Vick, BEST, announced that the former Nike pitchman had inked a new deal with the company. Vick’s agent, Joel Segal, went on to say that the two sides were looking forward to building their relationship.
Nike often supplies athletes with their products regardless of whether they are under a contract with the company. Vick had signed with Nike in 2001 but the company terminated that contract in 2007 after it was revealed that he had been involved in a dogfighting ring.
