NFL News: Vikings QB Brett Fare Says Revenge Not a Factor in Monday Night’s Showdown Against Packers

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has said he will not be motivated by revenge Monday night when his team hosts his former employer, the Green Bay Packers.

Favre was speaking to reporters on Thursday when he said the only motivation he had when making his decision to return to the NFL was winning another championship. The three-time NFL MVP acknowledged that his decision to return last year was in part to anger Packers GM Ted Thompson yet that motivation no longer drives him.

While Favre denied revenge as a motivation he did acknowledge that he would like to prove to Green Bay that he could still play.

Favre led the Packers to seven division titles, four NFC championship games, two Super Bowls and a Super Bowl title during his 16 years in Green Bay. After announcing his retirement following the 2007 season Favre decided he wanted to return but Green Bay opted to trade him to the New York Jets instead. Favre retried for a second time following the 2008 season but once again came back after receiving interest from the Minnesota Vikings, a divisional rival of the Packers.

Kickoff for the Monday night game is 8:30 p.m. ET.
