Lindsey Vonn Airlifted To Hospital After Crashing At Super G Race In Austria

A serious accident at the World Championship Super G race in Schladming, Austria earlier today put four-time World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn in the hospital. Vonn was airlifted to a nearby hospital after a hard landing caused her to lose a ski, slide off course and slam into a gate. She was evaluated by a medical team at the scene for about 12 minutes before being rushed to the hospital.

Vonn is believed to have sustained knee injuries. According to Austrian ski federation president Peter Schroecksnadel, Vonn suffered a torn cruciate and lateral ligaments. "That's the only injury she has, nothing besides this," he said.

A rep for Vonn, 28, said updates would be provided soon. "Lindsey was involved in a crash in today's World Championship Super G race in Schladming, Austria,” the rep said in a statement. “She is currently being evaluated and we will provide an update when it becomes available."

Vonn most recently made headlines for her relationship with golfer Tiger Woods. Insiders claimed that Woods, who was dumped by wife Elin Nordegren in 2010 after admitting to cheating on her with numerous women, is in love with Vonn and believes she may be “The One.”

“He wants to marry again and thinks Lindsey could be the woman,” the source told Star magazine.

Vonn split from her husband of 4 years, Olympic skier Thomas Vonn, in November 2011. Their divorce was finalized last month.
