Sales rose to 19,175 from 18,506 last year. So far this year, sales are down 24 percent to 179,219 from 236,327, according to Associated Press.
Passenger cars rose 17 percent to 12,403 from 10,552. Light truck sales fell 37 percent to 2,644 from 4,192. The company's MINI brand sales rose 9.7 percent to 4,128 from 3,762.
The 3 series was the top model seller with 6,523 sold.
