Kenya to Co-operate with ICC, Will Allow Trials of Suspects in Post-Election Violence to Move Forward

Kenya’s government has said they would co-operate with the International Criminal Court and their efforts to bring to trial those suspected of carrying out the 2007 post-election violence that left more than 1,300 people dead.

The ICC has said they would try key suspects and while they have not published their list of suspects that list is believed to include ministers and businessmen. Kenya showed little enthusiasm in setting up their own tribunals to try the suspects and actually let a deadline pass to set up such a system which sparked the ICC’s move.

Kenya has since said they would aid the ICC in their efforts to arrest suspects and bring them to trial.
