CHARMER, who's owner uses her extensively out of Mid-coast Maine, has returned to the Hinckley Company's service facility in Southwest Harbor, Maine to undergo extensive refurbishment along with usual routine maintenance.
"We love seeing our clients use their boats, and CHARMER is certainly one that covers quite a bit of the coast every season," says James Strohacker, President and founder of Becket and Company. "Since her launch in 1999 she has had two very meticulous owners that have kept her in excellent condition. Nevertheless, this was the perfect opportunity to proactively address systems that would require attention on any 14 year old boat. An added plus of bringing the boat back to Hinckley is that some of the crew who originally built her will be aboard the boat again this winter."
Becket and Company consulted with CHARMER's owner as well as Hinckley service manager Jean-Noel Ragot to create a complete list of items to address during the refit period. In addition to routine engine, waterjet, and varnish maintenance, CHARMER will receive new fresh and black water plumbing, new teak decking on her swim platform, and several hull and gelcoat paint touchups. Additionally, she will have brand new pilothouse windows, a rebuild of all sea strainers, new main waterjet shaft seals, and several other mechanical and electrical upgrades.
Hinckley's Talaria 44 was the company's first offering of a larger waterjet propelled boat after the introduction of their infamous Picnic Boat in 1995. With close to 90 Talaria 44s on the water today, CHARMER is a beautiful and well maintained reminder of the company's success in the motoryacht arena. Strohacker noted, "hull number one of any yacht is always a learning experience for both the builder and the owner. Having had this particular boat under management for nearly three and a half years, we've come to understand her intricacies and quirks. This helped facilitate some changes that reflect the systems aboard the newer Talaria 44s we have under management. She can run with the new boats all day long."
