Fueling rumors of a serious romance, Tiger Woods sent his private jet to Austria to bring Lindsey Vonn back home for surgery on her injured knee. TMZ obtained photos of Vonn boarding the plane on Friday.
Vonn sustained torn ligaments in her right knee and a lateral tibial plateau fracture in a crash at the World Championship Super G race in Schladming on Tuesday. A hard landing caused her to lose a ski, slide off course and slam into a gate. She was evaluated by a medical team at the scene for about 12 minutes before being airlifted to a nearby hospital.
In a statement to Us Weekly magazine on Wednesday, Vonn said she plans to “work as hard as humanly possible” to get back to top form for the next World Cup and the 2014 Olympic games in Russia.
"First off I want to say thank you to the amazing medical staff that cared for me. I plan on returning to Vail as soon as I can to have the necessary surgeries,” she said. "I am also grateful to my fans for the outpouring of support, which has really helped me stay positive. I can assure you that I will work as hard as humanly possible to be ready to represent my country next year in Sochi."
Vonn’s relationship with Woods made headlines last month when an insider claimed the golfer believes she may be “The One.” “He wants to marry again and thinks Lindsey could be the woman,” a source told Star magazine.
Vonn split from her husband of 4 years, Olympic skier Thomas Vonn, in November 2011. Their divorce was finalized last month. Woods’ marriage to wife Elin Nordegren ended in 2010 after he admitted to cheating on her with numerous women.
