Morgan & Morgan is pleased to announce that attorneys John Dill and Kevin Carden obtained a $1.5 million jury verdict in a medical malpractice case filed in Orange County, Florida. Mr. Dill and Mr. Carden took the case to trial after the defendant refused to offer a settlement to their client.
“I am very pleased with how the case turned out,” said Mr. Dill. “I think the jury was very smart in listening to the evidence presented, and, as a result, awarded a fair verdict for our client.”
The plaintiff, a 68-year-old legal secretary, received a mammogram in 2005 to check for breast cancer. According to the suit, her radiologist missed a suspicious area of density which later turned out to be cancer. The plaintiff received a mastectomy to treat the breast cancer. Although the plaintiff survived six years, she has a decreased chance of survival due to the negligence of the radiologist, the suit alleged.
Mr. Dill and Mr. Carden, of Morgan & Morgan’s Orlando office, have years of experience handling medical malpractice cases on behalf of clients who were injured by negligent healthcare professionals. Mr. Dill was named to the 2012 Edition of Best Lawyers in America in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury litigation, and has been named a diplomate in medical malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (ABPLA). Mr. Dill has also received the AV-Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which recognizes lawyers with the highest ethical standards and professional ability. Mr. Carden has also been distinguished with Martindale’s AV-Rating, and is a member of the Florida Justice Association and the Florida and Orange County Bar Associations.
