La Prima Food Group has been certified as a 3 Star Certified Green Restaurant® by the Green Restaurant Association (GRA), a national nonprofit helping restaurants become more environmentally sustainable. The prestigious certification makes La Prima the greenest caterer in the D.C metropolitan region.
The GRA rates organizations based on their sustainable practices in these seven categories: Disposables, Energy Usage, Food, Furnishings and Building Materials, Chemical Reduction, Waste, and Water Usage. Receiving 237.22 GreenPoints™ on the GRA’s rigorous certification scale, La Prima Food Group went 137.22% above and beyond the minimum requirements necessary for certification, earning the highest point rating of any caterer in the D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia regions.
La Prima has earned this certification by implementing the most environmentally conscious business practices and encouraging customers and employees to "Dine Green." Widely known for our farm to table services, La Prima continues to work towards providing patrons with the freshest foods, grown locally. With an onsite garden and nearby partner farms, La Prima shows its commitment to healthy, sustainable foods and local businesses.
Another highlight of La Prima’s prestigious green certification is becoming a Near-Zero Waste™ Caterer through the use of comprehensive composting and recycling. La Prima utilizes onsite composting of all garden waste and food trimmings, dramatically reducing the amount of waste sent to the landfill. Furthermore, La Prima only offers recycled and bio-based disposables for drop off service, encouraging customers to do their part as well.
