College Basketball: Men’s AP Top 25 Rankings Week 14

Top Ten gets a shake-up but the Florida Gators remain number one in the rankings. Wisconsin Badgers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Kansas Jayhawks, Duke Blue Devils slip while UCLA Bruins, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas A&M Aggies, Memphis Tigers, and Butler Bulldogs move up.

The Florida Gators maintained their number one ranking in the AP Top 25 after beating the then ranked #24 Vanderbilt Commodores 74-24 on Thursday and followed that up with a 94-78 victory over Tennessee on Saturday. The gators will be taking on the Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday and then face the #20 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.

Moving up three spots this week into the #2 spot are the UCLA Bruins. They beat the then ranked #9 Oregon Ducks 69-57 on Thursday and then embarrassed the Oregon State Beavers 82-35 on Saturday. The Bruins will be facing the #19 USC Trojans on Wednesday and then take on the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday.

The Ohio State Buckeyes bounced up one spot to #3 after they beat the Purdue Boilermakers 78-60 on Wednesday and then handled the Michigan State Spartans 63-54 on Saturday. OSU will take on the Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday and then they face Purdue again on Saturday.

The Wisconsin Badgers slipped to #4 this week after dropping their game to the Indian Hoosiers 71-66 on Wednesday. The Badgers bounced back and beat the Northwestern Wildcats 69-52 on Saturday. Wisconsin will face the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday and then take on the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday.

Slipping two spots to #5 are the North Carolina Tar Heels. UNC blew out the Miami Hurricanes 105-64 on Wednesday but were upset by their in-state rival the North Carolina State Wolfpack 83-79 on Saturday. The Tar Heels will face the #16 Duke Blue Devils on Wednesday and then take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday.

The Aggies of Texas A&M jumped up four spots to land at #6 this week in the AP Top 25 Rankings. The Aggies beat the Iowa State Cyclones 73-49 on Wednesday and beat the then #6 Kansas Jayhawks 69-66 on Saturday. A&M will face the Texas Longhorns on Monday and then face the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Panthers remained at #7 this week after beating their Big East opponent the Villanova Wildcats 65-59 on Monday. The Panthers will be facing the West Virginia Mountaineers on Wednesday and then face off against the Providence Friars on Saturday.

Continuing to rise are the Memphis Tigers who are now #8 in the AP Top 25 Rankings. The Tigers beat the UCF Knights 87-65 on Wednesday and then handled the SMU Mustangs 88-52 on Saturday. Memphis will be playing the UAB Blazers on Thursday and then the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday.

The Kansas Jayhawks dropped from #6 to #9 this week after splitting their two games. The Jayhawks had no problem beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers 76-56 on Monday but they were tripped up by Texas A&M 69-66 on Saturday. They will face the Kansas State Wildcats on Wednesday and then the Missouri Tigers on Saturday.

Entering the Top 10 this week are the Butler Bulldogs at the #10 spot. The Bulldogs beat the Illinois-Chicago Flames 71-45 on Monday, knocked of the Youngstown State Penguins 71-58 on Wednesday and wrapped up their week with a 66-47 victory over the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers on Saturday. The Bulldogs will face the Cleveland State Vikings on Thursday and then the Wright State Raiders on Saturday.
