The 21-year-old son of Basketball legend Larry Bird was arrested over the weekend in Indiana after an intense argument with his ex-girlfriend. Connor Bird, a student at Indiana University’s Bloomington campus, is accused of throwing a cell phone at the unidentified victim and attempting to hit her in his car twice. Indiana University police took Bird into custody at his Bloomington apartment on Sunday morning.
Bird was released from jail after posting bail. He faces charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery with injury and possession of marijuana. No other details were available.
According to TMZ.com this is not Bird’s first arrest. He was reportedly arrested for underage drinking and disorderly conduct two years ago.
Bird’s lawyer calls his latest arrest “a very private matter.” “We’re trying to resolve this as quickly as possible and we're all thankful no one was seriously injured,” the lawyer tells People magazine.
