Massive flooding triggered by heavy down pours in southern India have left at least 250 people dead and millions homeless as rescue efforts continue to secure residents stranded in remote areas.
The states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have been pounded by five days of rain, destroying farmland and sweeping away homes and buildings as people have fled to higher ground to escape the rising waters.
With many areas still impossible to reach by land the Indian air force has been dropping relief material to hundreds of villages. According to some estimates as many as 10 million people are now homeless with as many as two million homes destroyed in Karnataka.
