Mob Wives star Ramona Rizzo says she found “The One,” but there’s just one problem – he is an inmate at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Rizzo’s fiancé, Gambino family soldier Joseph Sclafani, is expected to serve more than 10 years behind bars for cocaine trafficking and marijuana production.
Rizzo, the granddaughter of Bonanno family soldier Benjamin Ruggiero (aka “Lefty Guns”), tells The New York Post’s Page Six that she realizes her love story is unconventional. “People should find their own way of love. I hope this inspires other people. We are praying for the best. If you love somebody before they got kicked down, why wouldn’t you love them after?” she explains.
“Maybe the key to a happy marriage is not having a husband in your face all the time,” says Rizzo, who has four children with her ex-husband.
“We've known each other since we were kids," Rizzo tells Page Six. "It's not the normal love story because he's incarcerated. But if you're in love, you can make it work."
Although the groom will not be present, Rizzo plans to throw a large wedding at Coral House on Long Island in June. "He didn't want to begrudge me a wedding," she says. “He said, 'Even if I can't be there, have a party. I'll be there in spirit.'"
Rizzo plans to invite 500 guests. Sclafani, also known as “Joe Boy,” plans to call during the wedding so Rizzo can “pass around the phone” to friends and family members.
