The bad news just keeps coming for Kris Humphries. First, his divorce lawyer files a motion to quit the case, and now a judge has rejected his request to delay his divorce trial until after his NBA basketball season is over. Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon set a May 6 trial date, which means Humphries’ estranged wife Kim Kardashian may receive her wish to be divorced by the time she gives birth to her first child with boyfriend Kanye West in July.
Neither Kardashian nor Humphries was present for Friday’s hearing. They are both required to appear at their next hearing set for April 12.
The ruling comes just one day after Humphries’ lawyer Marshall Waller filed a motion to be removed from the case due to an “irremediable breakdown of the attorney-client relationship.” No other details on the “breakdown” of the relationship were released. It appears the hearing on Waller’s request will be held late next month.
Kardashian filed for divorce in October 2011 after just 72 days of marriage. Humphries has accused her of marrying him for publicity and is demanding an annulment on the grounds of fraud.
