Rapper Shyne Released From Prison

New York rapper Shyne is set to be released from prison today after serving a 10 year sentence. Shyne, who converted to Judaism in prison and changed his name to Moses Levi, will serve 2 years probation upon his release.

Levi, 30, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in June 2001 for a shooting in 1999 that involved rapper P. Diddy and Jennifer Lopez. The shooting happened outside a Manhattan club and left 3 people injured. At the time, Shyne’s self-titled debut album was pending release. He managed to release the album in September 2000 and his second album, Godfather Buried Alive, in 2004. A third album, titled Godfather Exhumed, is in the works.

Diddy recently commented on Shyne’s released saying, “It's a blessing that he's coming home...I spoke to him like a couple of weeks ago and he sounded like he was in good spirits. I know he can't wait to get home. I know he is definitely going to heat the whole scene up. He was definitely one of [many] talented young artists that I had the pleasure to work with. I'm quite sure he's been using his time wisely and has some heat.”
