A legal battle over the unpublished musical tapes and recordings of the late Grateful Dead guitarist/singer Jerry Garcia has begun.
Garcia’s widow, Deborah Koons Garcia, filed a civil suit against a limited liability corporation that was set up to oversee the estate of the legendary performer. Koons is a part of the LLC which is comprised of Garcia’s beneficiaries.
Koons wants to professionally restore the unpublished recordings but the other members of the LLC have held the process up.
The civil suit was filed so that a judge may determine what the terms of the agreement were that led to the LLC being formed. Koons has maintained that the LLC was scheduled to dissolve by Dec. 31, 2005.
An April 13 hearing has been scheduled for the suit.
