Mark Sanchez will have a big-name receiver to look for on Monday night after the New York Jets orchestrated a deal for Braylon Edwards while sending the Cleveland Browns Jason Trusnik, Chansi Stuckey and two draft picks.
Edwards is expected to find himself in the starting lineup on Monday when the Jets travel to face the Miami Dolphins in an AFC East showdown. The move instantly provides Sanchez a legitimate deep threat on the field, something the Jets have lacked in the early going.
While Cleveland never question the talent of Edwards they did take exception to his off the field activities which included his highly publicized night out with suspended Miami Dolphins receiver Donte’ Stallworth, a night that led to Stallworth driving drunk and hitting and killing a pedestrian.
Edwards grabbed headlines again this week after he allegedly punched a man outside a club on Monday night. That could pose more legal problems for Edwards and he could face suspension from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell if it turns out he was involved in the altercation.
