The San Francisco 49ers and Michael Crabtree have finally reached a deal, making the former Texas Tech standout the last pick to sign from the NFL’s 2009 Draft.
Crabtree inked a six-year deal that he would be able to opt-out of after five if he meets performance levels outlined in the contract. For months Crabtree refused a five-year, $20 million offer that San Francisco had on the table but with the 49ers now sitting at 3-1 on the year and the season reaching its quarter-point he was facing the prospect of not having a team.
The two sides met on Tuesday evening and by early Wednesday morning they had come to an agreement. Details of the six-year deal have not been announced but Crabtree had said he was looking for a contract that would pay him around $5 million a year.
