VeriChip Corporation (NASDAQ:CHIP) fell 8.15% to $2.23 on huge volume of 537K shares after the company and its development partner RECEPTORS LLC announced On October 7, 2009  that VeriChip has received an exclusive license to RECEPTORS' Patent No. 7,504,364 titled 'Methods of Making Arrays and Artificial Receptors' and Patent No. 7,469,076 'Sensors Employing Combinatorial Artificial Receptors,' to use in conjunction with VeriChip's Patent No. 7,125,382 entitled 'Embedded Bio-Sensor System,' to develop an in vivo glucose-sensing RFID microchip. VeriChip Corporation is engaged in development, marketing, and sale of radio frequency identification (RFID) systems used for the identification and protection of people in the healthcare market.


Avis Budget Group Inc. (NYSE:CAR) corrected 4.56% or $0.57 to $11.93 on over 7.29 million shares  after Avis Budget Group Inc. announced yesterday the pricing of its offering of $300 million aggregate principal amount of 3.50% convertible senior notes due 2014. The notes were offered and sold solely to qualified institutional buyers pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended. The offering is expected to close on October 13, 2009. Avis Budget Group, Inc. (Avis Budget) provides car and truck rentals and ancillary services to businesses and consumers in the United States and internationally.


Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) plunges 8.79% to $21.79 on a volume of 972K shares after Barnes & Noble, Inc. announced today that for second quarter of 2010, it expects comparable store sales to decline 1%-3% and loss per share to be in the range of $0.45-$0.55, which includes, among other things, one-time transaction expenses, as well as higher interest expense and the impact of purchase accounting. For fiscal 2010, it expects comparable store sales to decrease 2%-4%, GAAP earnings per share (EPS) to be in the range of $0.59-$0.89, including transaction costs and expected purchase accounting adjustments, non-GAAP EPS of $1.52-$1.82, excluding purchase accounting and EBITDA of approximately $415-$444 million.
