ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, asked reader's to respond to the question, "Should Christians donate to charities?" Out of 341, there were 316 participants that overwhelmingly agreed that it is important for Christians to give and bless those that are in need. One of the participants said, "If they give with a cheerful heart and give freely without drawing attention to their own gain." Some of those surveyed believe it is important to check out the charity and make sure they are using the money wisely. One person felt that it was important to give specifically to Christian organizations. (http://www.christianet.com/cardonations/)
There are many different kinds of charities that provide blessings to those less fortunate including ones that give car donations. There are many ways to give to others including helping to supply their transportation needs. It is obvious from the results of the poll that many Christians believe in helping others when they can. One respondent said, "I believe when there is a human need and a Christian has financial means to help that it is something God expects of us."
Eight people who participated in the survey did not believe that Christians should donate to charitable organizations such as car donations. This group suggested that it is more important to give to their house of worship than to outside institutions. One participant said, "I think we should be donating to the Lord through the church rather than sending money to charities." Some of the respondents emphasized the importance of knowing where the money is going, believing that it needs to be used to further God's kingdom.
Seventeen respondents were unsure about making car donations or giving to a charitable organization. One person emphasized how important it is to make sure that a person pays their tithes first before giving elsewhere. Giving should be done to glorify God and the attention should not be on the giver. According to the Bible, God's children should give in secret not drawing attention to self. It is important to make sure that one's household is taken care of, stated one participant, and that the tithe is paid to the place where one is receiving spiritual food before giving offerings.
