An early morning shooting at a lumber plant in central Switzerland on Wednesday left 7 people seriously wounded and three people, including the shooter, dead. While police say the motive of the shooting remains unknown, they have identified the gunman at as a 42-year-old employee.
The shooting happened around 9 a.m. at the Kronospan lumber factory in Menznau, a town located about 14 miles west of Lucerne. The gunman turned his weapon on himself after opening fire on his fellow workers. No other details were immediately available.
"It's a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with the families of the people who have lost their lives," said a Kronospan spokesman in the United Kingdom.
At least four of the wounded are in critical condition and were airlifted from the scene.
