Four Crimson Tide Players Arrested for Campus Robbery
Four players from the champion Alabama team have been thrown out of the school after their arrest on charges of robbery from the school. After judicial review, linebackers D.J. Pettway and Tyler Hayes, safety Eddie Williams and H-back Brent Calloway are no longer enrolled in Alabama according to university spokeswoman Deborah Lane and are no longer associated with the football team said head coach Nick Saban.
Nick Saban said, “Their actions do not reflect the spirit and character that we want our organization to reflect. It’s obviously very disappointing and unacceptable what happened.”
He continued, “I also think I’m really proud over the last five years that our team has done a very good job with their personal responsibility and how they’ve represented the university. Some people learn by words, some people learn by consequences, some people can’t learn.”
Unfortunately, these four players fall into that last category as Pettway, Williams and Hayes are charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and Calloway, along with Williams, was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. Calloway was not charged with robbery.
The rest of the team are also having some difficulties as cornerback John Fulton and wide receiver Kevin Norwood are not going to be active in offseason conditioning workouts due to turf toe injuries. Saban went as far as to say he was uncertain about the players’ spring practice status as well.
Bad behavior and injuries are plaguing the Crimson Tide in the offseason, but if knowing the Tide and coach Saban, they will probably be right back to all their glory by the time of the first kick-off.
