Personal Injury and Trial Attorneys gathered for the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board February Meeting to discuss courtroom skills and conduct with Florida judges. The event was moderated by Personal Injury Attorney Bernard Walsh, founder of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board and Partner at Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh.
The judges, all from the 12th Judicial Circuit, attending the event included, The Honorable Diana Moreland of Bradenton, The Honorable Charles E. Williams of Sarasota, The Honorable Peter A. Dubensky of Manatee County and the honorable Frederick P. Mercurio also of Manatee county.
The event, sponsored by local businesses in Bradenton and Sarasota, took place, February 20th at the Polo Grill at Lakewood Ranch. During the event, each judge gave their thoughts on three particular topics, conduct of trial lawyers, suggestions on improving court room presentations and a better understanding of each judges requirements for jury selection for trial.
After the Judges lectured on the subjects, the large group of attendees of 70 attorneys and guests participated in an open forum panel discussion, with the panel of judges answering questions from attorneys. Additionally, members of the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board who attended the event received 2 C.L.E. (Continuing Legal Education) credits. C.L.E. Credits are required by the Florida BAR Association.
Manasota Trial Lawyers Board founder Bernie Walsh had this to say about the event, “One of the goals of Manasota Trial Lawyers Board, is to provide real, hands-on knowledge to our members that can help them be more effective in representing their clients. Thanks to the Justices who volunteered their time tonight we have given our members new incite from the judges perspective.” Mr Walsh continued, “I can't thank the justices enough for sharing their views and advice with us tonight. The attorneys here will benefit, but more importantly so will the people we represent.”
