Damon Thompson Arrested for Attempted Murder on UCLA Campus

A UCLA student was arrested Thursday afternoon after slashing the throat of a fellow student in a chemistry lab on campus. Damon Thompson, 20, was taken in to custody on the University of California L.A. campus and is charged with attempted murder. Bail is set at $1 million.

According to reports, Thompson and an unidentified female student argued before the attack. Thompson reportedly started punching the girl before grabbing an unidentified sharp object or weapon and stabbing her. He then slashed her throat and calmly walked out of the building, according to witnesses. He was arrested shortly thereafter.

At least 30 students witnessed the attack or were in the area when the incident occurred. The victim was rushed to UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center where she underwent surgery.
