Brazilian TV Personality Accused of Ordering Killings Turns Himself in to Authorities

Brazilian television personality Wallace Souza has turned himself in to authorities and has maintained his innocence related to charges of murder and drug trafficking.

Souza, a TV crime show host and former state legislature, has been accused of ordering the killings of his rivals as a means of boosting ratings for his program. Several of those murders were covered in great detail by camera crews from Souza’s show, often times arriving well before the police.

Souza has denied he ordered any killing and has blamed his rivals for attempting to discredit his name.

While many suspected Souza of ordering the killings he was protected by legislative immunity. That ended last week when he was removed from his post and an arrest warrant was quickly issued. For the past four days Souza has been on the run but he reportedly turned himself in on Thursday night.

He is said to be in jail on homicide and drug trafficking charges.
