Rosie O’Donnell Could Ditch “The View” for Return to Syndication

With the clock ticking on her current contract Rosie O’Donnell has a decision to make. The outspoken and often controversial centerpiece of the daily morning show “The View” can either stick with Barbara Walters and the gang or head back to syndication and potentially earn a huge payday.

Rosie hasn’t spoken publicly about her plans concerning her future after her June contract expires but many believe she could be heading back to hosting her own show.

Over the past few months O’Donnell has placed herself in the middle of some highly publicized battles. Her war of words with Donald Trump was front page news for weeks, she has been openly critical of George Bush and went as far as called for impeachment trials and on Feb. 8 made disparaging remarks about Anna Nicole Smith just hours before the pop icon was found dead.

It could be the perfect time for O’Donnell to bolt from the morning show yet the benefits of staying could be hard to turn down. Her role on “The View” is not as demanding as that of a talk show host. Rosie has often spoke about the importance of spending time with her family and “The View” offers her that opportunity.

O’Donnell is also involved in several projects outside of “The View” that would be difficult to maintain if she were to return to syndication. Rosie’s involvement in charitable organizations as well as her desire to produce films will definitely play a part in her decision.

Whatever decision Rosie makes she is sure to earn a nice payday. Reports say she earned close to $30 million in her last season of “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” While she won’t be making that kind of money on “The View” she will definitely be rewarded for spiking the show’s ratings.
