Peoples
Flower Shops, an Albuquerque, New Mexico based, family-owned and operated
florist, announced that they will again be serving as a Blossom Sponsor for
Albuquerque and Rio Rancho’s upcoming Daffodil Days scheduled for March 22 and
March 23.
Daffodil
Days is a large fundraiser for Presbyterian Hospital
Hospice and an event that Peoples Flower Shops has supported for many
years. The event helps raise funds for the hospital’s home healthcare unit,
which delivers skilled home care and hospice services throughout New Mexico.
Over 500 volunteers sell thousands of daffodils over the course of the event.
The money raised from the sale of these daffodils will provide financial
assistance to families that use the hospice services, including a way to cover
medications, food, utilities and funeral expenses.
The
event began in 1999 when Hospice volunteer Joan Walsh came up with the idea of
a spring fundraising event that included selling daffodils as a way to get
money for those that were struggling with hospice care for their loved ones.
From that small start, Daffodil Days has grown each year to what it is today.
It now takes volunteers a few days to wrap and arrange all the daffodils for
sale, which are now sold in bunches, a vase, or as part of a larger flower
arrangement.
