College Football Scores: #14 Penn State Nittany Lions Crush Eastern Illinois, Daryll Clark Tosses 3 TDs Runs for Another

Daryll Clark was 13/19 passing for 234 yards and three touchdowns while adding a fourth TD on the ground, Evan Royster had 94 yards rushing and Chaz Powell had 79 yards receiving and a touchdown as the #14 Penn State Nittany Lions (5-1) punished the Eastern Illinois Panthers (4-2) 52-3 on Saturday.

Penn State jumped to a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter on a one-yard keeper from Daryll Clark and Collin Wagner extended the advantage with a 25-yard field goal late in the frame to make it 10-0. Eastern Illinois tried to stay close with the Nittany Lions but things got ugly midway through the second quarter as Clark hit Brett Brackett on a 2-yard TD toss and then followed that up with a 51-yard touchdown pass to Chaz Powell to push the lead to 24-0. Following a blocked punt Clark hit Derek Moye on a 25-yard touchdown and Penn State was rolling 31-0. After each team traded interceptions Penn State tacked on its final touchdown of the half when Navorro Bowman collected a fumble and went 91 yards for a score to make it 38-0 at halftime.

The Panthers finally managed to get on the board in the third quarter when Austin Signor hit a 43-yard field goal but Penn State answered with a 26-yard touchdown run from Stephfon Green to make it 45-3. Penn State would tack on their seventh touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter when Kevin Newsome crossed the goal line from 9-yards out to finish off the scoring.

Penn State will return to Big Ten action next week when they face the Minnesota Gophers.
