Kate Middleton Sparks Rumors Baby Is A Girl

Kate Middleton may have accidentally revealed her baby’s gender. During an appearance at Grimsby, England’s National Fishing Heritage Centre on Tuesday, the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge seemed to have let it slip that she is expecting a baby girl when she accepted a white stuffed animal from onlooker Diane Burton.

"Thank you, I'll take that for my d--" Middleton said, abruptly stopping in mid-sentence to apparently avoid saying “daughter.”

When other onlookers asked Middleton if she was about to say “daughter,” the 31-year-old repeated "We're not telling” at least twice.

Royal insiders say Middleton and Prince William recently learned the baby’s sex, but have only shared the news with their parents. The baby is due in July.

If the child is a girl, she will hold the title of “Princess.” Queen Elizabeth recently overturned her grandfather’s decree that any daughter born to the Prince of Wales would not hold the title of princess. "The Queen has been pleased by Letters Patentunder the Great Seal of the Realm dated 31 December 2012 to declare that all the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style, title and attribute of royal highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names or with such other titles of honour,” a royal spokesperson said in January.

Her Majesty’s decree comes amidst the UK government’s move to eliminate gender discrimination when it comes to the line of succession to the throne. Proposed changes will ensure a firstborn girl will become queen even if she has a brother.
