NFL Scores Week 5: Brett Favre Keeps Minnesota Vikings Perfect, Crush St. Louis Rams

Brett Favre was 18/24 for 232 yards and a touchdown, Adrian Peterson collected 69 yards on the ground and a pair of TDs and the defense of the Minnesota Vikings (5-0) forced four turnovers in a 38-10 pounding of the St. Louis Rams (0-5) on Sunday.

Peterson put the Vikings in front in the opening frame when he scored on a 5-yard run and two minutes later the Vikings were celebrating another touchdown after Jared Allen picked up a fumble and went 52-yards for a score and a 14-0 advantage. Both teams traded field goals in the second quarter and the half ended with Minnesota in front 17-3.

Favre extended the Vikings lead to 24-3 in the third quarter when he hit Visanthe Shiancoe on a 13-yard touchdown toss. That advantage was extended to 31-3 early in the fourth when Peterson crossed the goal line from 7-yards out and Minnesota was rolling. Marc Bulger finally put the Rams in the endzone when he found Donnie Avery on a 27-yard strike but Chester Arthur capped the scoring for the Vikings five minutes later when he scored from a yard out.
