NFL Scores Week 5: Dallas Cowboys Nip Kansas City Chiefs in OT, Miles Austin Scores Game-Winner on 60-Yard Reception

Tony Romo was 20/34 passing for 351 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Tashard Choice rushed for 92 yards and a score on eight carries and Miles Austin had 250 yards receiving and two TDs including the game-winner as the Dallas Cowboys (3-2) edged the Kansas City Chiefs (0-5) 26-20 in overtime on Sunday.

After a scoreless first quarter the Chiefs managed to put the first points of the game on the board when Ryan Succop kicked a 47-yard field goal. That 3-0 lead was pushed to 10-0 when the Chiefs capitalized on a Tony Romo fumble and Matt Cassel found Mike Vrabel on a one-yard toss. The Dallas offense struggled throughout the first half but Nick Folk finally provided some points late in the second when he kicked a 22-yard field goal and the score was 10-3 at the break.

The Chiefs pushed their advantage back to two scores in the third quarter when Succop added a 38-yard field goal but the Cowboys answered when Tashard Choice scored on a 36-yard touchdown run to bring Dallas to within 13-10.

Dallas evened the score at 13-13 early in the fourth on Folk’s third field goal of the game and then the Cowboys grabbed their first lead of the game when Miles Austin took a Romo pass 59-yards for a touchdown with 2:16 left in the game. Kansas City didn’t pack it in though and with 24 seconds left in regulation Dwayne Bowe scored on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Cassel to force overtime.

In the extra frame the Cowboys once again turned to Austin his 60-yard touchdown reception ended the game.
