Howard finished with 30 points and Jameer Nelson added 31 points in the win. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 24 points and 16 rebounds.
Sam Cassell scored 22 points and dished out 6 assists while Chris Kaman added 15 points and 9 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers (25-25) beat the Philadelphia 76ers (17-34) 90-89. Philadelphia held a 7 point lead heading into the fourth but let it slip away at home. Samuel Dalembert had 14 points and 15 rebounds in the Sixers loss.
The Toronto Raptors (27-23) held an 8 point lead heading into the fourth quarter and held on to beat the Los Angeles Lakers (30-21) 96-92. Chris Bosh scored 29 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and Anthony Parker added 18 points and 7 boards in the win. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 25 points and 9 rebounds.
The Portland Trail Blazers (21-30) scored 21 points in overtime to beat the Charlotte Bobcats (18-32) 108-100. Zach Randolph finished with 40 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Jarrett Jack added 20 points and 9 assists in the win. Gerald Wallace led the Bobcats with 30 points and 15 rebounds and Emeka Okafor finished with 23 points and 10 boards.
The New Jersey Nets (24-27) used a 10 point advantage in the third quarter to establish some breathing room and eased their way to a 92-78 win over the Boston Celtics (12-37). Vince Carter finished with 21 points while Jason Kidd ended his night with 13 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds. The loss was the Celtics 17th in a row.
LeBron James scored 29 points, had 7 rebounds, and 6 assists while Drew Gooden finished with 10 points and 13 boards as the Cleveland Cavaliers (29-21) beat the Miami Heat (24-26) 103-79. The Cavaliers had 12 more rebounds than the Heat and handed out 10 more assists in the win. Dwyane Wade finished with 27 points to lead Miami.
The Memphis Grizzlies (13-38) held the Minnesota Timberwolves (23-27) to just 5 points in overtime to win 105-97. Pau Gasol scored 10 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while Rudy Gay finished with 19 points in the Memphis win. Kevin Garnett led the Wolves with 20 points and 17 rebounds in the loss. Memphis went to the free throw line 26 times compared to 6 for Minnesota.
The Dallas Mavericks (41-9) responded to a 4 point deficit after the first quarter and crushed the Houston Rockets (31-18) 95-74. Josh Howard finished with 22 points and 7 rebounds while Dirk Nowitzki has 15 points and 8 boards to lead the Mavericks to their 17th straight home win. Tracy McGrady had 20 points in the Rockets loss.
The Atlanta Hawks (19-30) used a 40 point fourth quarter to get past the Phoenix suns (39-11) 120-111. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 32 points while grabbing 8 rebounds and Josh Smith finished with 25 points in the win. Amare Stoudemire finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds for Phoenix.
The Golden State Warriors (24-27) overcame a 14 points fourth quarter deficit to force overtime and then beat the Chicago Bulls (28-23) 123-121. Al Harrington had 24 points and 9 rebounds while Stephen Jackson finished with 23 points and 8 assists in the win. Luol Deng finished with 23 points and 9 rebounds for the Bulls.
