The Oklahoma Sooners may be heading into next week’s Red River Rivalry showdown against the Texas Longhorns with an added weapon as Ryan Broyles hasn’t been ruled out of playing according to coach Bob Stoops.
Broyles sustained a fractured shoulder blade in the Sooners loss to the Miami Hurricanes on Oct. 3 and then missed all of Saturday’s 33-7 victory over the Baylor Bears. It was originally believed that Broyles would be out until November but Stoops said the injury was actually a “light fracture” and he could be back earlier than first thought.
Despite their 3-2 record the #20 Oklahoma Sooners could still find their way into a BCS bowl game if they win the Big 12. A win against the #3 Texas Longhorns (5-0) would go a long way in reaching that goal as they both play in the Big 12 South.
Oklahoma has been devastated by injuries this year, losing All-America tight end Jermaine Gresham before the season started and then saw Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford go down in their opener against BYU. Bradford returned on Saturday and threw for 389 yards and a TD in the win.
