The Incomparable John Scofield and his Hollowbody Band Make Their Way to Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse

John Scofield is one of the most instantly recognizable guitarists of all time. His singular improvisational style and a compositional palette that reaches from post-bop, to trashy jazz-funk, to gospel and back, has earned him an illustrious career that spans over thirty years and built a reputation as one of the most profoundly influential players of his time.

From his start with the Billy Cobham-George Duke Band, to a career defining stint with Miles Davis, to his collaborations with artists as diverse as Medeski, Martin, & Wood, Pat Metheny, Mavis Staples, Herbie Hancock, Phil Lesh, and Ron Carter, Scofield is a legend among legends. His newest outfit, John Scofield Hollowbody Band finds “Sco” working with jazz giants Mike Stern, Ben Street, and Bill Stewart.

This is sure to be a night of exceptional improvisation and stellar musicianship in the Capital of the South.
