Chef Todd English Calls off Wedding to Erica Wang

Celebrity chef Todd English called off his October 3 wedding to his former personal assistant Erica Wang, claiming she was abusive on several occasions.

According to The New York Post, English backed out of the $150,000 St. Regis wedding at the last minute, leaving Wang to entertain the 150 guests set to attend. Instead of a wedding, Wang hosted a party for the guests. The 33-year-old allegedly wore all black as she made use of the already purchased food, drinks and wedding band.

English, 49, also allegedly left Wang with the final wedding charges, reportedly totaling $12,000. He removed her from his credit cards and kicked her out of their Chelsea apartment.

“An animal wouldn’t treat another animal the way he has treated me. He is forgetting I am human. I don’t deserve this. He has caused me, my friends and family so much pain,” Wang says.

English has claimed Wang was abusive and hit him repeatedly in the face with his own watch, giving him a cut that required stitches. “Until that day, I planned to go through with the marriage. I disappeared before the wedding because I didn’t want to get into another confrontation with Erica. I didn’t know where this thing was going,” he explains.

The former couple worked together on the PBS cooking show Food Trip. They were engaged in 2008.
