Pregnant Kate Middleton is hoping for a prince while Prince William is hoping for a princess! While honoring the Irish Guards on St. Patrick’s Day, the Duchess of Cambridge told a guardsman that she doesn’t know the gender of her unborn child, but she is hoping her first born will be a boy.
"I asked her `do you know if it's a girl or boy?' and she said `not yet,’” reveals Guardsman Lee Wheeler. "She said `I'd like to have a boy and William would like a girl.’”
Since they don’t know the gender, the royal couple has come up with a nickname for their baby. Insiders tell Us Weekly magazine Kate and William refer to their baby as “our little grape,” a reference to the baby’s current size.
Another source reveals Kate has moved past morning sickness and is now craving sweets. "She's got sugar on the brain," the source says. "Chocolate, biscuits, cake."
The baby is due in July. Kate’s pregnancy was announced in early December. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby," St. James Palace said in a statement at the time. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news."
