After months of denying rumors, Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are ready to own up to their romance! In separate statements released online Monday, the golf star and the Olympic skier confirm their friendship has evolved into a romantic relationship.
"I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy," Vonn, 28, writes on her official Facebook page. "I don't plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends."
Woods, 37, posted a message on his official website. "Something nice that's happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating,” he says. "We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes."
In January, insiders reported the pair first began dating in November. They fueled romance rumors in February when Woods sent his private jet to Austria to fly Vonn to the U.S. for surgery on a knee injury she sustained at the World Championship Super G race in Schladming.
Vonn split from her husband of 4 years, Olympic skier Thomas Vonn, in November 2011. Woods’ marriage to wife Elin Nordegren ended in 2010 after he admitted to cheating on her with numerous women.
