Northgate Minerals Corporation (AMEX: NXG) has reported drill results for 29 shallow diamond drill holes totaling 2,424 metres. The drill holes are located at the company's wholly owned Young Davidson project near the town of Matechewan in Ontario. The drilling took place on the property directly east of the current ore reserve which was operated by Matechewan Consolidated from 1934-1954. Several points of intersection were 7.6 g/t gold over 13.5meters, 13.8 g/t gold over 2.0m, 7.1 g/t gold over 3.8m, and 1.9 g/t gold over 36.1m.The purpose of this drill program was to assess the potential for high grade gold mineralization within 50m of the surface.
