Florida Gators remain #1, UCLA Bruins drop to #5 but no big changes in Week 15 AP Top 25 Rankings.
The Florida Gators remained the #1 team in the country after surviving a scary week against SEC opponents. On Wednesday the Gators beat the Georgia Bulldogs by 10 and followed that up with a narrow 64-61 win over the then #20 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday. Florida will face off against the #25 Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday and then meet the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday.
Moving up a spot in the rankings is the new #2 Ohio State Buckeyes. The Big-10 team knocked off the Michigan State Spartans 76-63 on Tuesday and then handled the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday 63-56. The Buck Eyes will continue conference play this week with the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday and then the Minnesota Gophers on Sunday.
The Wisconsin Badgers moved up one spot this week TO #3 after beating a pair of Big-10 opponents. The Badgers handled the Nittany Lions of Penn State by 13 on Wednesday and then beat the Iowa Hawk Eyes by 12 on Saturday. Wisconsin will take on Minnesota on Wednesday before playing Penn State once again on Saturday.
The North Carolina Tar Heels saw their AP Top 25 Ranking improve this week after two ACC victories. The #4 Tar Heels beat the then #16 Duke Blue Devils by 6 on Wednesday and then dismantled the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 104-67 on Saturday. N.C. will be taking on the Virginia Tech Hokies on Tuesday and then face the #21 Boston College Eagles on Saturday.
Falling three spots in this week’s rankings and landing at #5 are the UCLA Bruins. While the Bruins were able to beat the then #19 USC Trojans by 5 on Wednesday the Bruins dropped their Saturday game against the unranked West Virginia Mountaineers 70-65. UCLA will be playing two Pac-10 games this week with the Arizona State Sun Devils on Thursday followed by the #19 Arizona Wildcats on Saturday.
The Texas A&M Aggies remained at #6 this week after taking care of a pair of Big-12 rivals. The Aggies pounded the Texas Longhorns by 18 last Monday and then beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers by 10 on Saturday. A&M will face the Bobby Knight led Texas Tech Red Raiders on Tuesday and then travel to play the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.
Holding on to the #7 spot this week is the Pittsburgh Panthers who were able to beat the #23 West Virginia Mountaineers 60-47 on Wednesday and then beat the Prividence Friars by 6 on Saturday. Pittsburgh faces the Louisville Cardinals on Monday night and then the Washington Huskies on Saturday.
The Memphis Tigers stayed put at #8 this week after beating the UAB Blazers 70-56 on Thursday and then Blowing out the Tulane Green Wave 95-51 on Saturday. The Tigers travel to take on the Golden Hurricanes of Tulsa on Wednesday and then take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday.
The Kansas Jayhawks remained at #9 this week in the AP Top 25 Rankings after beating the Kansas State Wildcats by 27 points on Wednesday and then beating the Missouri Tigers by 18 on Saturday. Kansas will be taking on the Colorado Buffaloes on Wednesday and then the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.
Jumping into the top ten this week is are the Washington State Cougars at #10. The Cougars beat the then #25 Stanford Cardinals by 13 on Thursday and followed that up with another Pac-10 win over the California Bears 59-46 on Saturday. Washington State will be facing their in-state rival Washington Huskies on Wednesday.
