Manatee Works Announces Second Generation Mobile Decoding Engine

Manatee Works has increased its margin as the leader of embedded mobile barcode decoding software with the release of its second generation mobiScan SDK. While NeoMedia struggles financially and functionally to be relevant, Red Laser continues monitoring its users' usage, and other companies price themselves out of the market based on lackluster scanning performance, Manatee Works continues to offer the best performing, most affordable solution available.

Jim Stein, CEO of Manatee Works, states “We offer a variety of high performance 1D and 2D barcode decoders for mobile application developers. We are continually striving to improve the quality of our decoding engine; this allows for a wider variety of codes to be read. Manatee Works has recently upgraded the performance of its mobiScan SDK, but the greatest achievement was the advancements made to the mobiScan SDK PDF417, which has been drastically improved.”

Manatee Works, Inc., an innovator at building mobile barcode scanning solutions for various platforms, unveiled its second generation mobiScan mobile decoding engine. The mobiScan engine already supports decoding such barcode types, known as symbologies, as PDF417, Aztec, Data Matrix, QR, EAN/UPC, Code 25, Code 39, and Code 128, now, with nearly a 50-80% increase in performance from Gen1.

The mobiScan PDF417 SDK, for instance, is now even more capable of decoding high density barcodes and low quality images; it is also optimized for scanning an image for multiple symbologies, simultaneously, with little delay. Additionally, the PDF417 SDK has been developed to be more tolerant of codes that fall outside the standard ISO specifications; this allows the decoder to read codes from inadequate or damaged prints. Also, the new decoder can effortlessly recognize a barcode from extreme angles, varying brightness/contrast levels, and inverted surfaces, such as mirrors.

Manatee Works is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of the Research Triangle, in the serene State of North Carolina, located in the United States. That charming, quaint region of the World is where the sea and sand meet rock and rivers, the clouds meet the land, and Facebook, Google, and Apple clouds meet the Web.

The mobiScan SDK is available for iOS, Android, Win Phone 8, Blackberry 10, Windows, Linux, and OS X, and is free to download at http://www.manateeworks.com.
