NHL Scores from Feb. 12; Philadelphia Flyers Explode for Five in the Third to Down the Detroit Red Wings

The Philadelphia Flyers (15-33-8) managed to score five goals in the third period to beat the Detroit Red Wings (36-16-6) 6-1. Tomas Holmstrom actually put the Red Wings in front 1-0 in the first period but Mike Richards scored a shorthanded goal for the Flyers to even it up. R.J. Umberger then scored twice in the third period while Simon Gagne and Peter Forsberg each added a goal and an assist to give Philadelphia the win. Michael Leighton stopped 31 shots for the Flyers.
