A Healthy Eating Plan to Reduce Stress

Jayson Hunter offers tips to create a healthy eating plan to help reduce stress

Stress has become a way of life for all of us. But, it is important to be aware of the negative consequences of taking stress on one’s lifestyle. Registered dietitian, Jayson Hunter reveals the top three stress busting foods to include in your healthy eating plan. He believes that an effective healthy eating plan, with the right choice of foods can go a long way in reducing stress and improving overall health.

Jayson explains, “Who doesn’t have stress today. Everyone is stressed out for some reason or the other. What is even more frightening is that it has become a way of life and no one seems to be worried about the long term effects of stress. People need to adopt a healthy eating plan loaded with some stress busting foods to counter the effect of stress in their everyday lives”. He adds, “Most of the well advertised healthy eating plans focus more on keeping you fit or help you lose weight rather than focus on your mental well being”.

Here are Hunter’s top three stress busting foods to include in your healthy eating plan:

1) Go Green – Green leafy vegetables are loaded with many vitamins and minerals which are great at reducing stress and making us feel better. Including more green leafy vegetables in your healthy eating plan can reduce your stress levels.

2) Fruits – Fruits like oranges, apples, and grapes are loaded with antioxidants. Antioxidants, vitamin C and selenium are known to be helpful in reducing stress and anxiety and improving our overall focus.

3) Get a little Nutty – Nuts like almonds are loaded with many vitamins and minerals directly beneficial to our brains. Your healthy eating plan should include a serving of nuts every day. Nuts are known to help regulate mood and relieve stress.
