Steve Nash to Miss NBA All-Star Game

Steve Nash will miss this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game due to a nagging shoulder injury. The all-star guard from the Phoenix Suns has missed the last three games and is scheduled to sit out Wednesday’s contest against the Seattle Supersonics. The Suns have dropped two of the three games Nash has missed.

The NBA’s two-time defending MVP will also miss the NBA Skills Challenge in which he would have been competing against Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Nash, 33, has complained of chronic back problems and believes the inflammation in his right shoulder stems from his ongoing discomfort.

David Stern will once again be forced to name a replacement for the Western Conference squad. Stern replaced the injured Yao Ming and Carlos Boozer with Carmelo Anthony and Josh Howard last week.

By sitting out the skills competition and game Nash will have two-weeks to heal. He is expected to be ready to play in Phoenix’s Feb. 20 game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

While Nash won’t be participating in any activities during the All-Star weekend he will join Ming and Boozer in attendance. The NBA requires players chosen for the game to attend regardless of injury.

The NBA All-Star Game will be played Feb. 18 in Las Vegas, Nv.
