Garth Brooks Comes Out of Retirement

Garth Brooks announced Thursday he is coming out of retirement after a 9 year hiatus. The country singer made the announcement this morning in a press conference at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.

“We’re going to take the retirement roof off over out head, and I already feel taller,” he said.

Brooks, who is married to country singer Trisha Yearwood, didn’t give the exact date he will take the stage again.

The 47-year-old retired in 2000 in order to spend time with his three daughters. In 2007, Brooks surpassed Elvis Presley to become the top-selling solo artist in United States history.

Though Brooks is looking forward to performing again, he insists there are no plans to tour. “As for touring, if I can't eat it, sleep it, breathe it, then it ain't me. What people are going to expect from us is 110 miles an hour tomorrow, and the truth is, if we ever do tour again, if we ever do make new music again, it’s still going to be another five years,” he said.
